Sav Rodgers premieres his new film, No Reason for Celebration, as part of the reflect / project exhibition at Mid-America Arts Alliance. No Reason for Celebration is both call to action and historical documentation of the pride, power, and persecution of trans people. Please be advised. This work references acts of violence and contains adult language. The film screens nightly at M-AAA (2018 Baltimore, KCMO) through the end of the month.

Sav Rodgers is a filmmaker and writer from Kansas City. His work often centers on the queer experience through a comedic or personal lens. He is the director of CHASING CHASING AMY, a feature documentary about the cultural impact of Chasing Amy (1997) on the greater LGBTQ+ community and the profound, lasting impression on his own life. Sav also delivered a TED Talk on the subject titled “The rom-com that saved my life.”

As part of this month’s exhibition, Sav has included an immersive music video by Madeline Holland and paintings by Hannah McBroom as part of the digital exhibition. Check them out at www.maaa.org/reflect-project.
