Tom Huang holds an MFA in furniture design from the Rhode Island School of Design and is an associate professor of design at the University of Kansas. His work has been exhibited in nationally acclaimed museums and art centers and has been published in American Craft Magazine, and in E. Ashley Rooney’s Bespoke: Furniture from 101 International Artists, as well as other publications. His functional and non-functional work challenges the traditional boundaries between art, craft, and design. His most recent social practice work engages an intergenerational community, explores the benefits of craft in creating community, and challenges ageism.
